2 for 4 on Swords “Pretty Work”

Capt Aaron came tight on a couple of swords today. 1 released about a 40lb , 1 of legal size taken and 2 came unbuttoned not a bad day swording its good getting back in the catch column after a few trying trips the last few times out for them.

The mahi bite has really started to turn on, we have been seeing some real quality and more numbers as of late. The Blackfin are starting to make a good showing of themselves as well.

The grouper bite has been staying strong since the season opened up. Also there have been plenty of big ole AJ’s to go toe to toe with as well.

50lb Mahi “Pretty Work”

The fishing has been great on some fronts and Ok on others. The Mahi fishing has b een picking up pretty well as of late. Swordfishing is well swordfishing, sometimes you get um and sometimes you don’t. Monday we had Pete Roman back with us to add to his bucket list, we crossed off white marlin OC this past September and we were looking to cross off a sword, they pulled on off and that seemed to be the only shot they had at a sword. But being prepared paid off when some real nice Mahi showed up. The bull was a slob that was Over the 50lb mark a real trophy Mahi.

Reef’s, wrecks and the humps have been really good. With the opening of grouper season we have had some real nice fish hit the deck’s. The reef donkeys have been in full force as well and the amberjacks do not disappoint when it comes to the fight department.

The Fishing Remains hot and gets better all the time. Give us a shout.

The fishing has been fantastic when the weather allows as its been a bit windy. We have had some great families with kids recently. We broke some kids in on some fun Amberjacks and had them up to 80lbs, weighed as much as some of the kids. Most averaged in the 40 to 50 lb range. The mahi have been really consistent with some nice fish and a few big ones mixed in. The countdown is on for the opening of grouper season on may 1st as we are a week away. If you love grouper you need to get down here and catch them up as we have been releasing a lot every trip

Capt Jeff has been on bronze gold in the back fishing the light tackle. Red drum, trout and some nice snook have been screaming the drags. The tarpon fishing has been improving as well as we have tangled with a few as well.

The great fishing has continued Mahi, Kings and Blackfin tuna have been getting better if its possible. We have enjoyed all the kids fishing with us with there family’s down on spring break and Easter break. The reefs have given up some nice snappers. Also with grouper season less than 2 weeks away, it should be a fantastic opening as we have been releasing some really nice fish on a daily basis. So if you have time in May get down here and get in on the action.

Spring Has Sprung, Pretty Work and That’s Right in the Florida Keys

Well the fishing has been great fun, There is a good crowd in Islamorada with spring breakers. We have been fishing with kids on just about every trip. Some real nice flag yellowtails have been coming over the rails, also mangrove and Muttons have been adding to the mix. Is it May Yet cause the grouper fishing has been sensational, with all being released of course. Hopefully they don’t get lock jaw come may.

Well we didn’t catch the 500+ lb Sword tht was caught recently down here. We did Swordfish down here this past week and had a few misses that we couldn’t come tight on. We have got into the Wahoo a bit as well as the Mahi. So everything has been going nicely when we can get out as the weather was fun a few weeks ago but it has been nice lately and both boats are running just about every day.

Mahi, Cobia and More, Keys are Hot and getting Hotter

Islamorada has been a bit breezy over the last week but both boats have manged some great days on the water. Spring break is upon us and the families have been having a great time on both sides of the island. We found some real nice Hog fish earlier in the week as well as some Mutton Snappers and some real nice Black Groupers that we have been letting go, several up to 20lbs or so. There have been a few Sail fish this week too, all on live ballyhoo’s. The Reef and Patch fishing have proven to be the main stay this week. Lots of action, yellow tails, Porgies and some Spanish and Ciro mackerel’s. As warm as its been the Permit should be showing up very soon on some of our shallower wrecks. There has also been a descent Dolphin bite as of late to, Capt. Andrew had a real nice catch on Friday.
In the Back country their Tarpon have started to show up in pretty good numbers, Toms Lake was producing a real nice bite on both bait and Fly! the Red fish and Trout are just about jumping in the boat. Starting to see more and more Cobia. The Sharks are starting to move in on some of the wrecks which can make things a little difficult at times. Overall things have been pretty good, weather has been outstanding, just have to deal with the wind but it’s that time of the year! Looking forward to an increase in the Dolphin fishing as well as the Sword fishing and Black fin Tunas. The Tarpon and permit fishing should do nothing but get better everyday.

Snappers are snapping, 30 inch Hog snapper

The reefs have been alive with good catches of mangroves, yellowtail snapper, muttons and of course grouper that need to be released. Capt Aaron had a awesome 3o inch Hog snapper cayght by one of his fares this week. That is a great fish. Mahi and Blackfin tuna have been showing up more regularly. The Sailfish bite has been really weather dependent this season and the cold fronts that really stack them up have been fewer than normal with the warmer than usual winter in the States.

Capt. Jeff has been finding Cobia and some Mahi along with some Blacktips thrown in to add to the fun scale.

This past weekend was great with some really nice fish being caught. Capt. Aaron on the Pretty Work got his customers into some awesome Cobia action with one pushing past the 50lb mark. Capt. Andrew had a slammer mutton of 28lb on the reef as he found some really good snapper fishing with muttons and some fat yellowtail snapper hitting the ice as well. King Mackerel fishing has been very good as well with mostly quality fish coming over the rails. Sails have been the only spotty bite the last few days everything else is hitting high speed.

Capt. Aaron has been seeing really good signs for the Bigger Blackfin Tuna to be moving in as conditions are prime.

Back at the Ranch:
The “Pretty Work” and “That’s Right” have been fishing on a regular basis some fronts have made the Sails hit and miss. The reef has been really good with the claen water moving back in. Yellowtails are chewing well, mackerels have been good one day gonr the next. We are starting to see cobia on a regular basis as well. Of course the grouper fishing has been great (all released of course).
