Team “Pretty Work” Poor Girls Sailfish Tourney

The Lovely Ladies of Team “Pretty Work” had a great day on the water as they went on the hunt for Sail Fish. They ended up releasing 3 Sails on the day. The Team will be fishing in the Ladys Sailfish Open in Islamorada this upcoming weekend. Video has great footage of the Pretty Work backing down hard as a sail goes airborne.

"Pretty Work" Poor Girl's Open

Wahoo, Kings, Groupers and Snappers.

The boats have been fishing hard this week. The weather has had the water a bit dirty as its been blowing from the southwest, making bait a little difficult to get. The kingfish bite has been very good along with the snappers and the grouper (unfortunately we have to release them this time of the year). We did go for Swords with about 6 other boats after 5 drops and no bites we decided to try for other things and we got into the blackfin’s and fished the reef for the guys. We did have a nice wahoo this week so that was a blast for one of our groups.

Inshore and the Reef, Fishing in the Keys. Keeps Going Strong

Capt Jeff, has been fishing on the flats and in the back country with great results. Chunky Red fish, trout, snook, black drum and an occasional tarpon have been putting the light tackle to the test. There are some nice grouper back there as well, unfortunately all need to be released.

Capt Aaron, Has been chasing sails off the reef edge and have been getting their releases. Some days they have lock jaw, we have been seeing plenty of them sometimes in as shallow as 20ft of water. Yellow tail snapper have been a really good bite on the reef with muttons, mangroves, and plenty of grouper to be released as well. We have seen some really nice mackerel fishing as well.

Smoker Kings, Sails, Mahi and More. Islamorada Remains Hot!!!!!

Winter fishing is in full swing and has kicked it into high gear. The Big Kings have showed up in force and have wore out some of our trips on light tackle. The sails have made a good showing as well as we have been getting our shots and getting our releases. On the reef plenty of nice snapper for the table along with grouper which need to be released as the season is closed. But a lot of fun to put a bend in the rod..

Happy New Year!!!!!

The week finished out nicely!! Happy New Year!! Well both the “Pretty Work” and “That’s Right” finished the week with lots of action. We found some real nice Mutton Snappers in the deep water. We also were able to find several fat Black Groupers a few Red’s and a 12lb Scamp. Pretty good way to end the year and the season!! The mackerels are starting to bite better, fish ranging anywhere from 8lb to 30lbs all on live bait and 20lb Spinning gear, what a fight!! The Yellow tails were a little tough, had poor anchoring condition, wind against tide. We did mange thou plenty for dinner and the mangrove snapper made a great appears on a few of the shallow patch’s. The Sailfishing has been a little slow, seeing fish but they just don’t want to eat, we manged to get one today while mackerel fishing. there’s even been a nice showing of some Cobia the last few days. the weather has helped with that lite winds and clean water, does the trick every time. Well we are looking forward to a great week, Standing by.

Oh ya and Ocean City’s Striper fishing has really picked up the “Lucky Break” had 4 fish over 38″ today so if your still looking to get out there and catch the Stripers give us a call!

Great Fishing on the Reef and in the Back Country

Hope all enjoyed a Happy Holiday and are all geared up for the New Year this weekend! Sure has been a wonderful few days down here in the Keys, sunny and warm moderate winds and pretty good conditions over all. Over the last few days Both the “Pretty Work” and “That’s Right” have enjoyed some great family fun. The groups have enjoyed some pretty active fishing. We have enjoyed some real nice King Mack fishing as well as plenty of Ciro’s inshore. The Gulf Stream has been pushed in pretty tight to the reef edge . The water is purple, it’s beautiful. Monday there were quite a few Dolphin coming by as well as some Wahoos. The Sailfishing has been slow, plenty of fish coming through but very tough to get them to bite.

The deep water wreck’s have been holding some real nice fish, Black groupers and some Mutton Snappers. We only have a few days left before the Grouper fishing is closed till May. The shallower patches have also been hold some great action with plenty of Red Groupers and Black Groupers, both keepers and throw backs. The Mangrove snappers have been supplying plenty of bites, as well as the Yellowtails. There’s been plenty of bait which has helped, Cigar minnows and ballyhoo’s. The Cero’s just rip the Hoo’s up, some real great bite’s and pretty good fight on 10lb. We shall see what the next few days bring.

Back Country has been excellent with some real nice fish and a great variety. Snook, Tarpon, reds, trout, you name it they have been on the chew.

Sails Chasing Ballyhoo in 25ft of water

We had a great family out from up north today. Started at the reef and caught some nice grouper and snapper filling out the coolers of fresh fish to be enjoyed for the family. The Cero Mackerel bite was really good also.

We experience a phenomenon down here in the keys. The Ballyhoo will school up on the patch reefs in 25ft of water and the sails will come up to shower the bait. We had 8 sails at one time we came up on. We had a great family out with us today. We ended up hooking 4 of them for the charter. Kept one buttoned up. Lots of action on a 4hr trip. We got some video of the hooked fish unfortunately amidst the chaos of 8 sails the camera man had to be helping the charter he is the Captain after all.

Back Country Islamorada FL with Capt. Jeff

Great fun in the shallows of Islamorada with some world class light tackle fishing. It has been a bit breezy but the good thing about the keys is there’s usually a place to hide if your flexible. Northeast winds 15-20 with an air temp of 77 and a water temp of 78, the bite was on. Really good redfish and triple tail action along with a beauty of a snook. The guys were all smiles after a great day fishing with Light tackle.

Pre-Christmas “SAILS” The Sailfish are stacking up.

The colder it gets up north, the better the sailfishing gets down here. “Pretty Work” had a good run at them this week. Catching on live bait along the reef edge. Tournament Season has begun with real good numbers of Sails caught and released.

Saltwater Crocs and Life in the Keys

Capt Jeff had a sightseeing trip, or Eco Tour you could call it. Late Fall and early winter is when everything starts showing up. The Bird life is absolutely amazing that migrates here. One of the Keys most rare and stunning creature the saltwater crocodile can be found soaking in the warm sun. Come for the Fishing but enjoy the beauty which makes up the Florida Keys. Islamorada is a special place.
